PHLOGÍZŌ – SETTING ON FIRE

(Greek: Phlogizo – to ignite, to inflame, to set ablaze)

Key Verse: "He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire." – Matthew 3:11

INTRODUCTION:

The Greek word "Phlogízō" means to set on fire—not just physically, but spiritually. God is calling His people in this generation to burn again—with passion, with holiness, and with power.

You cannot shine without fire. You cannot influence your world without being ignited. Heaven is raising flaming revivalists, prayer warriors, and holy vessels who are phlogizóset on fire for the Master’s use.

I. THE PURPOSE OF GOD'S FIRE

1. To Purify

  • Malachi 3:2-3“He is like a refiner’s fire... He will purify the Levites and refine them like gold.”
  • Fire burns away impurities, leaving behind holiness.

2. To Empower

  • Acts 2:3-4“They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire... all of them were filled with the Holy Spirit.”
  • God’s fire is not just emotional—it is empowering, bold, and transformational.

3. To Illuminate

  • Matthew 5:14-16“You are the light of the world… let your light shine before others…”
  • We must be set on fire so we can light up a dark generation.

II. BIBLICAL EXAMPLES OF PHLOGIZO

  • The bush burned but was not consumed.
  • God revealed Himself in the fire.
  • Moses' calling began in the fire!

3. Remove Every Wet Wood (Sin and Distraction)

  • Hebrews 12:1“Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that entangles…”
  • Wet wood won’t burn. Remove compromise.

4. Feed the Flame

  • Leviticus 6:12-13“The fire on the altar must be kept burning... It must not go out.”
  • Fuel your fire daily with prayer, Word, worship, fasting, and fellowship.

5. Live Sacrificially

ALTAR CALL & PRAYER

Prayer:
“Lord, set me on fire again. Let every coldness in my spirit be consumed. Baptize me with fresh fire from heaven. Use me to light up my generation. I surrender myself as a living sacrifice. In Jesus’ name. Amen!”
